Nice analysis! I feel one interesting question not addressed here is: would the government let Mistral sell itself to Apple? My understanding is that the whole idea behind Mistral was to build an European player that could compete with US ones to avoid an internet wave bis. That, plus all the scandals associated with the sale of European assets to US companies over the last 30 years, I have a hard time seeing the French government letting a sale to Apple happen.
I didn’t want to speak about that side of the story. But it might not be easy for Mistral to be acquired by a US company.
The ‘sovereign’ part of the Mistral narrative is just that, a narrative. It will hold only as long as their business interests align with it. As soon as the market dictates otherwise, they will follow the wind.
